VICTORY!!! The Eno River Tenants Association, the project that effectively laid the groundwork to launch CLP, won all of our core demands! After years of united struggle, we forced the landlord to turn over the homes for NO COST to Community Home Trust, a local housing land trust org. Tenants also won full repairs and upgrades on top of over 1.5 years of cancelled rent!
Eno River Tenants Association, which was organized by CLP team members starting in 2022, built a campaign with support from residents and allied orgs across the city of Durham, and eventually won all of their core demands. This front page article helped the campaign gain the leverage and pressure needed to keep the fight going and growing over the next few years. Currently the tenants are being set up as land trust homeowners!
